Jason Henzell Appointed President of Island Outpost

Jason has played a significant role in assisting Island Outpost’s reputation as Jamaica’s chicest collection of boutique resorts, through his years as owner and general manager at the acclaimed Jake’s in Treasure Beach. At Jake's, guests and locals mingle cheerfully at this bohemian resort, which celebrates the beachcomber lifestyle. Twenty-three units (with 29 rooms) commune with the garden, sea and sky, near a secluded fishing village. Moroccan domes and arches bloom. Decks skim the waves. Shells, beads and colored glass glitter brightly from walls. Eclectic and exotic. Elemental and eccentric. Sensual and secluded. Adjectives fly fast and thick about Jake's, a mid-range resort that won't install telephones and TVs, but boasts a worldbeat music library, yoga meditation deck and, for guests who can't entirely unplug, complimentary internet service. The resort's restaurant continues to be a rallying point for islanders and guests alike. Prior to Jake’s, Jason worked at The Hyatt hotel, Cayman Islands returning to Jamaica in 1991 and became Jamaica’s youngest ever Jamaican Bank manager. Jason joined his mother in 1995 to become general manager of Jake’s. In 1993 he won hotelier of the year by Jamaica Hotel and Tourism Association. In, 1998 Jason established BREDS –The Treasure Beach foundation, which has achieved remarkable results in its commitment to community development and, as an accolade to his good work, Jason was named an environmental ambassador in 2004. 

Jason currently serves as a director of the Jamaican Tourist Board. The new Jake’s General Manager is Yvonne Clarke.
