An enticing menu of Jamaican cuisine awaits Jake's guests in the Village Hopping Country Cuisine tour. National dishes include ackee and saltfish with spicy calalloo, dumplings, bammy and fried plantain. Participants discover the classic methods of making Bammy bread from cassava (a root vegetable) and creating coffee from scratch. While visiting Porus, guests enjoy samplings of Jamaica's tastiest fruits, including naseberry, ortaniques, starapples and tangerines. Connoisseurs sample sugar cane, plantain tarts and coconut gizzarders at the SWA Craft Centre Mandeville and sip on Appleton Rum specials at the Appleton Rum Factory. Hot-peppered shrimps and fried fish in Middle Quarters are treats to be savored. Alligator Pond, located on a local fishing beach, offers lobster and other seafood favorites during a sunset gathering.
